In 1999 Pilzhof started as a phase IV tray-filling facility. The phase III compost at that time was supplied by Gebr. Theeuwen Blitterswijck. The trays are fructificated and than delivered to the mushroomgrower. The advantage is that there is no need to invest in climated houses for the grower and that he can pick the mushrooms immediate. For this it can be a profitable business for the grower.
After completing the phase IV facility in 1999 Pilzhof started to build up a tunnelcompany to produce their own phase 2-3 compost. From august 2000 Walkro Blitterswijck supplied no longer phase III but instead phase 1 compost.
